ES Science Fair

Open to any third, fourth, or fifth grader, the Science Fair is voluntary and takes place in Sept/Oct. With a focus on the scientific method and experimentation as well as guidance from Mrs. Johnson, the students choose their own project and conduct their experiments at home.
ES Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is open to fourth and fifth grades. Together with the Middle School, students compete to determine the District's State Spelling Bee Qualifier through our own local bee. Platte Valley Students then compete in an exhibition bee against other schools in the area for bragging rights in the NPMLA Spelling Bee in February.
ES Math League

The mathleague.com contest is open to fourth and fifth grades and takes place in April. The students compete against their grade cohorts as well as other students from around Colorado in a timed contest provided by mathleague.com. As students matriculate, they may participate in sixth grade through high school and algebra contests.
ES World Fair

Patterned after the Girl Scouts of the USA World Thinking Day event, the World Fair offers third, fourth, and fifth grade students the opportunity to learn about and report on a country of their choice. They learn about its physical, human, and economic geography and then make a display that is judged fair-style. The World Fair takes place in May.
